GAR! 173: Bobby the Brain and the Avengers Go to Twin Peaks

Download the MP3 here!

This week’s episode of The GAR! Podcast includes discussion of the following: Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan, “Twin Peaks,” Secret Empire, Len Wein, “The Good Place,” Hurricane Irma, Spider-Man, broken Avengers, Archie and digest comics, reprint comics, great gifts, the work of Alan Light, and Watchmen and “The Twilight Zone.”

Glenn admits that he got the “Seinfeld” episode memory wrong, but the analogy of the toothbrush in the toilet he presented still holds for Captain America and Secret Empire.

The GAR! Podcast is the Glenn Walker and Ray Cornwall weekly podcast where they talk unrehearsed about whatever happens to come to mind. It’s an audio-zine for your mind, a nerd exploration of a nerd world, coming to you from the suburbs of New Jersey and the sunny lakes of Florida via Skype.

Special Note from Ray: If you’re a long-time listener to GAR!, you’ve probably heard a cat mewing in the background many times. More than likely, that cat was my pal Dewey, who I adopted in 2002 as a kitten. I found Dewey mewing his little head off in the adoption section of a Petsmart. I came over and asked to see him; he jumped over to me, crawled up my one arm, down the other, and went to sleep in the crook of my arm. We haven’t been separated since. I didn’t adopt him; he adopted me.

On Thursday, July 30th, Dewey went to the Big Farm, where he can roam and play. He was a champion mouser, and an amazing cat despite the onset of blindness midway through his life. He showed me more love, affection, and trust than any other animal I’ve ever known, and I will miss him terribly.

If you’re reading this, please consider making a small donation to your local animal shelter. They rock, and they could probably use the money. Or, if you have the room in your life and the love in your heart, consider adopting a shelter animal of your own.

Thanks to all of you for listening, and we’ll be back next week!

GAR! Podcast Episode 21- Special Guests Jeremy Whitley and Emily Martin of Princeless

One of these days, I’m going to figure out how we’ve gotten so lucky here at GAR! This week, Glenn and I had the privilege of interviewing the current creative team of the Eisner-nominated and Glyph-winning comic book, Princeless (a big GAR favorite). Jeremy Whitley (the book’s writer) and Emily Martin (the book’s current artist) were kind enough to stop by and talk about their book, teaching comics, publisher Action Lab Comics, and other topics.

As always, you can always get the latest shows and leave comments for us at www.garpodcast.com. You can also listen on iTunes and Stitcher. Tweet Ray at @raycornwall, and tweet Glenn at @monsura. Thanks for listening!
